School Visits

I love doing author visits and can offer talks and/or creative writing workshops, encouraging students to participate, share their ideas and take away ideas to develop further.

I taught English in colleges of Further Education for many years, so I am also happy to do events for adults.

You can contact me for booking events on jeanwaudby@yahoo.co.uk or at Authors Aloud.

Testimonials:

Jeannie Waudby visited several Year 7 and 8 groups at The Charter School to share with them her brilliant novel ONE OF US. She was magnificent! Her discussion topics ranged from leprosy and social stigma, to different ways to plot and construct a novel. Her use of images made her talk accessible to all levels. She engaged the students in exercises such as writing the first line of their own story, which resulted in some really creative work. The students’ response to Jeannie was wholly positive; they were clearly inspired by her work, as well as her warmth and encouragement to them. And we at Charter love ONE OF US!

Emily Seed, Librarian, The Charter School

Jeannie’s natural and unaffected style went down very well with the year 9 children we invited to the workshop. The stories from her upbringing were fascinating, and she checked comprehension of any challenging or unusual words, to ensure the children understood. After reading from One of Us, there was discussion of first lines that hook the reader, with the children inventing their own compelling start to a story. The feedback from the children was great – they really enjoyed the session, and it was lovely to work with such a lovely, professional writer.

Jeannie Waudby's  One Of Us is an exciting novel which transports the reader to a world of thrilling events and emotional experiences.
When Jeannie visited Bishop Ramsey School in Ruislip, our youngsters had the privilege to share Jeannie's journey in putting the story together, to hear about the various processes and research involved and to ask questions a website or a book review would not answer to. Our year 7 and 8 students were so pleased and we cannot wait for Jeannie's next book and the next visit...
